Rich Eisenberg grew up in New York during the Apollo era, a time of big dreams and even bigger questions. One that stuck with him came in 1969: “How can a river catch fire?” That moment—when the Cuyahoga River ignited—sparked a lifelong passion for protecting the environment and helping others.
As the youngest of six, Rich learned early how to navigate and lead within a group and learning to embrace change. He carried that mindset into a career that began with a sales trainee role and eventually led to founding Interstate Products in Sarasota, Florida, in 1996.
With the rise of the Internet, Rich dove headfirst into e-commerce and digital marketing. That early vision helped IPI become a trusted name in safety and environmental products—serving industries from railroads and oil companies to airports, real estate, military, facilities, and disaster response teams across the globe. Rich has now directed & developed IPI's export program and business since its inception breaking language barriers and embracing the new world global economy.
Since the early 2000s, Rich and IPI have backed major relief efforts—starting with Hurricane Katrina—by supplying fuel, water tanks and portable spill berms. From the Gulf Oil Spill in 2010 to storms like Harvey in Houston, and the 2024 hits in Florida and the Carolinas, they’ve shipped water and fuel bladders, sometimes overnight including Jamaican Relief agencies during Hurricane Melissa in 2025.

Rich even helped personally offload thousands of cases of disinfectant during COVID, arranged for white glove safety cabinets deliveries to Social Security offices throughout the Southeast USA. Interstate also guided sanitizer manufacturers on safe and compliant chemical storage for their tanks and tankers. It’s not about titles—it’s about action.
In 2018, IPI launched a chatbot on the Interstate website to improve service and despite the skeptics- now proudly holds a 4.8-star overall satisfaction rating from over 4,000 3rd party reviews.
IPI continues to grow, with a newly redesigned website launched in early 2025 and even more product options for returning and new clients. By mid year, our clients had noticed the faster response, cleaner look and expanding product lines.
We did not stop in 2026 and continued the growth to assist our clients. Rich became an individual member of the NFPA and the company joined the SCAA, Spill Control Association of America.
As an individual member of the NFPA, I have direct access to the latest fire and life safety codes (like NFPA 30 for flammable liquids).The SCAA, Spill Control Association of America, keeps members informed on legislative changes and new spill control technologies. I found Interstate through a search and they had a huge selection of berms to choose from. I picked the one I would need for the job and made a call. I ended up needing two, and though he could have let me purchase whatever I asked for Rich made it a point to get me what was needed for the job.
